Mr. A

It's so fun to photograph family! The weather was perfect all day last Sunday, which we had a mini session with Mr. A and his parents. I usually don't have the leisure of using reflectors for family portraits, because we all know that most/almost all babies never cooperate. For this shoot, I wanted to keep it simple and I was going for very simplistic images, all about the subjects and their interactions. I wanted to create very pure, light and fresh images. It was a pleasure photographing the couple's faces swept by the ever so apparent love they have for their son. Mr. A was a quick little one. Having the world at his finger tips, he was so excited about the sand, the birds, the planes, and the beach ... but completely ignored me, my camera, and his parents. Nevertheless, I am always determined and will do whatever it takes to get the SHOTS. To sum it up, the session was filled with love, sun light, and creativity. :D

12x12 Flush Mount Album

I have designed and ordered several flush mount albums but was never able to keep one for myself. Today, the much anticipated moment is here ... my very own flush mount album. I am totally blown away! It's amazing how I always feel like this every single time ... the way the album is handled once it got into my hands is a great experience: the square formats (8×8, 10×10, or 12×12), the beautiful leather covers, the leather is soft & has a matte finish, and the superb printing that makes the photographs look like photographs. I love touching it, looking it, and admiring it ... and you WILL too! The books comes with a floral canvas bag that adds additional protection your album needs.

I am really fascinated by the album and I'm extremely delighted. I now have a sample album that I can present with a big proud smile on my face when I meet the couples. Once you see one, you would want to own one!!!

We are now offering 8x8 for portrait sessions.

A Special Treat

We celebrated our anniversary at George's at the Cove. The dinner was super fabulous, especially the fois gras. YUM! Thank you Bella, Jamie, and Phong for your generosity.

2 Years

Today is our two year anniversary. Before leaving for work, Yosuke showered me with kisses (he has never missed a single day), and told me that he has a package coming and that I should pay attention to the door bell. So ... I impatiently waited ... Finally, the bell rang, and I ran to the door as fast as I could ... to only be disappointed to find photographic prints at the doorsteps.(see below).

I have a love hate relationship with surprises. I can't seem to function until I know what they are. I'm supposed to be at the peak of my productivity time today, I sat at Yosuke's desk and tried figuring out the best way to scratch things off my list: work, shoots edit, print orders, album orders, phone bills, emails, pet society on facebook, car insurance, dinner reservation, blogs, and etc ... instead ... I feverishly walked back and forth, checked the front door, and sang. Because singing increases productivity levels, or at least when Yosuke sings and plays his guitars. But, who am I kidding? I can't sing, I can't dance, and I have got no rhythm.

I then saw something red at the door. Why didn't the delivery person ring the doorbell? He's such an idiot. Hehe. Anyway, the moment of truth arrived ... Yosuke had two dozen roses delivered! They are absolutely stunning!!! :D

Dearest Poopy Head,

After all these times together, I am still obsessed with you. Obsessed in every way and any capacity with the person you are. Today, I write this as your fiance and your lover until end's end. And your best friend until our very last sunrise. Yosuke, I am madly in love with you. Today, much like yesterday, and very much like tomorrow. Happy Anniversary, My Love.

With much love,
Stinky Pooh

Business Cards

I'm obssessed with this company ... they are pricey and the turnaround time is SLOW ... Yet, I keep coming back to them for more printing. :D

New Packaging

After a long day of roaming around San Diego for errands, I came home with tons of goody packages: photo prints from the new photo lab, lots of business cards, holiday cards, and new packaging for the contracts. Here are a couple of shots of my new packaging for the contract. Isn't it fancy? I just adore the design. :D

Be Nhi

I love clouds, I do NOT love rain. Clouds make my job so much easier … I don’t have to face the sun, my locations are not limited, and the subject’s eyes can open up big and wide to let some soft light in - all of these things make for great photographs. I do crave my back-lighting so most of my shoots are scheduled just before sunset. Another perfect weather day for a wonderful family session taken place at La Jolla Cove. I have not been able to post to the blog all the sessions that have taken place. However, I did manage to post some of my favorites. I blog you tonight a combination session. We tackled both a sibling session, a couple session, and a family session all in one. This beautiful family just exudes happiness. They were happy and bright. With smiles, giggles, slanted glances- each one intertwines perfectly with one another and together they embody what a family is all about - love. Thank you Tina and Cammie for the opportunity.

My Sugar Daddy No. 2

Besides Yosuke, Jay has been helping me out a whole lot when I first started the photography business. Even though Jay and I are twenty years apart, I feel that I can talk to him about anything and everything. Last month, he visited San Diego for work and he was able to have a day reserved just for me. He first took me out for lunch to catch up on life, talk about business and photography, and see if there were things I could do to improve my experience with flash photography. Seeing how the tab wasn't on me, I got a little crazy and ordered a strawberry margarita AND 2 pieces of shrimp wrapped with bacon. Yup, that's me. Big spender and living life on the wild side! Over the course of lunch, Jay checked out my gear, gave me a lesson on flash photography, and etc... Once the ball got rolling, he wouldn't stop talking ... he talked so much that his food has gotten cold by the time he digs in.

After lunch, he grabbed a few gear at a photography store in downtown before heading to a shoot at Wind n Sea. It was fun seeing Jay in action and how he can persuade anyone to do anything ... and I mean ANYTHING. After the shoot, he gave me the things that he bought at the store and his excuse was that "Happy Birthday!" I asked him, "Why are you so invested in me/my photography?" He quickly replied, "I know that you'll be BIG someday."

So... dinner came around, and I wanted to treat him ... but he insisted on treating me again. Being the poorest 29 yo in America, I didn't fight really hard for the tab. Since I wasn't hungry and the weather was a bit cold, I decided to order hot tea. Yup, just a cup of hot tea. :D But, I ended up eating most of the apetizers, a portion of his entree, and drinking a fourths of the wine bottle. My ultimate goal of the meeting is to have an awesome capture of Jay for memory, but this was the ONLY shot I got. :D

New Print Lab

A few days ago I received an announcement of the newly launched Pro lab. I thought, what the heck, let’s check it out. My first impression is that this is going to be the way I will print from now on. The prints were beyond AMAZING, have got to be the best yet, exactly as how I view them on my monitors. I was SOLD instantly.

Angela's maternity

Angela and Bill, first-time-to-be-parents were loads of fun. I get so much enjoyment out of seeing their excitement. Angela's smile could cure world hunger, it's so genuine and unabashedly joyful. I love it. Here soon to be mommy is at about 34 weeks and just glowing.
